18th Ward Brewing (40 Division St) is the anchor — a downtown craft brewery taproom with rotating house beers, and the easiest place to meet people without booking anything. Good for a loose evening where nobody has decided how long they're staying.
Next door energy at Scratch Bar & Grill (26 Division St), an American bar and grill that handles the "we just want a burger and a drink and a TV" brief without making a production of it.
Arepa Mania Bar & Grill (12 Division St) took over the former Jaleo space and serves Venezuelan and Latin food with a full bar — arepas plus proper cocktails is a combination New Rochelle didn't have enough of.
Shah's Halal Food (16 Division St) does halal platters and gyros at the cheapest price point on this page. It is the correct late-night and correct lunch answer, which is rare.

One block over on Lecount, Affogato House (48 Lecount Pl) is a genuinely nice way to end a night — espresso and ice cream rather than another round. And Café Haven at Stella (10 Lecount Pl) is a solid laptop-and-coffee stop on the ground floor of one of the new towers. If you're at Socceroof (29 Lecount Pl) with the kids, everything above is a two-minute walk.
Main Street is where New Rochelle does sit-down-and-stay-a-while, and the tapas-and-wine stretch is the most underrated thing in the city.
The Andaluz Tapas & Wine Bar (519 Main St) is elegant Spanish-inspired cooking with handcrafted cocktails — the pick for an anniversary, a birthday, or impressing someone from out of town who assumes Westchester means chain restaurants.
Andrea Tapas (581 Main St) is the other Mediterranean option on the same stretch, and a good one when Andaluz is full.
